Memorial Service...

This weekend we plan to have a small memorial service for Amanda, Andy and Katelyn. Tomorrow we have arranged for our pastor to do a small simple service for us. Our neighbor has a boat and is willing to take us out on Clear Lake, or weather permitting, go out to Galveston Bay. We will release Amanda, Andy and Katelyn there into the waters. Ironically, our neighbor's boat is named "This is Heaven". We appreciate our Pastor Steven and Shay being so willing to give some time out of their weekend for us. Amber's parents Paula and Denny will be joining us for the service. So far, it looks like the weather might behave enough in the late morning that it should not be problem, but me being a NWS forecaster, knows that it will get rather nasty around here with the possibility of a severe thunderstorm outbreak. We'll see how it unfolds.

Again we thank all our friends and family's support and prayers. Last week was a tough week as that would have been week 32 for our kiddos. We would be looking for Amber to deliver three healthy babies. This week we hope to have some closure with the memorial service for them. It seems like this was supposed to be the weekend God wanted us to have the service. It was a year ago this weekend that Amber and I flew to North Carolina for may late Grandmother's memorial service. I'm sure Grammie and Papa are having a great time with Amanda, Andy and Katelyn in the presence of Jesus.

While Amber and I are looking forward to what God has for us, we will still remember our children. While their lives were short, the tears that we shed are of sorrow with an overwhelming joy and peace. This last month Amber and I purchased remembrance rings. Amber's is a simple 3 stone diamond ring - an oval cut diamond for each child. I have a silver ring from James Avery with the children's initials engraved on it. I wear it on my necklace. Lastly, our doctor and her office graciously bought us 3 azalea bushes. Two are white for the girls and one is red for our boy. They originally wanted to get us rose bushes, but we thought we might be able to keep the azalea bushes alive throughout the year. Amber and I aren't exactly the best gardeners!

Edit 8/8/2008 - added a picture of the planted bushes.

Please know you're in our thoughts and prayers. I'm sure the memorial service was beautiful and helped to bring more closure, although, they will always be a part of you and your lives. The rings were a great idea. May God bless you and yours.
