Exciting News - August Update

Hopefully you have been able to read through the rest of the blog before reading this, but if you haven't, I suggest going back to February and read from there. I've done a lot of recent updates, uploaded some pictures and hopefully catch everyone back up to speed with what is going on with Amber and I. It has been a busy, crazy summer.

The last couple of weeks of July, we were able to settle back down although Amber took a trip up to Tulsa to visit friends and family. This was the last week in July. The Tuesday before her trip I was awoken to Amber saying, "What would you do if I said I was pregnant?" Huh? Where did that come from at 6AM? Amber goes on, "Either I'm pregnant or something's really wrong, so I took a pregnancy test. Do you see another line?" After rubbing the sleeps from my eyes, yes, indeed I could see another faint line next to the test line. So, we got up, ate breakfast, and went to the doctor office that morning. It is amazing what an OB/GYN office will do once you explain that you lost triplets and think you are pregnant. They squeezed us in and sure enough Amber's doctor was out sick. Still, she did another test and they took some blood to confirm. The next day, sure enough, tests came back positive. Amber is pregnant. They had her do one more test before she left for Tulsa and that one came back with a stronger result. So Amber and to get some medicine to help things and we scheduled an appointment on August 12 to do an ultrasound and a check up.

This is a scary and exciting time for us. Yes we are excited to be expecting. Yes, Amber is pregnant and no it was not done with the help of fertility treatment. We are only expecting one baby. Our pregnancy is already flagged as high risk, and I think we will be given a little extra special treatment. The whole doctors office is pulling for us. We did have to go into the office due to some cramping Amber felt. They did an ultrasound and the baby is right where it is supposed to be and progressing nicely. The cramping they think is from Amber's ovaries which actually ovulated. So we are happy that it is nothing more than that. We are looking forward to next Tuesday for our doctor's appointment. We hope to see a heartbeat!

Now, I know what you are thinking. See, if you just adopt, you'll get pregnant. Okay, so you see, we were trying to de-bunk that suggestion. And it still is a myth. It is not my fault God chose to do things this way. In fact we may still end up adopting. It is just that we will be putting that on hold for now. Still, going through the adoption process did not make Amber ovulate. Although, I guess something can be said for going on a honeymoon in Mexico! This is a total God thing, and we praise Him for it. We thank Him for this gift. We are humbled, but scared as scared can be. We have to take one day at a time, and trust Him each step. We hope that towards the end of March 2009 we will have a child to bring home. So you see, we have birth mom, just that it is Amber. Amazing how God works.

I hope to be doing more frequent updates, and will keep you posted on how Amber is doing!
