Gustav not so much a threat

This past weekend was a tad busy in my line of work. Gustav was bearing down on the Gulf coast and we had to help support decisions on evacuations. Given the quality forecasts from the NHC, we were able to provide necessary input for our area not to evacuate as Gustav would move into Louisiana. This was also good because it meant that Amber could stay put here. Fortunately Gustav was not as bad as it could have been for the folks in Louisiana. We had little impacts with may be a few showers from the rain bands.

Amber had another doctor appointment for blood work. The doctor checked the baby again, and it is alive and well. The heartbeat was good and steady. We go to UTMB in Galveston for a major ultrasound on September 18. I'll try to post a picture on another blog entry afterward. On September 22, we will go to the hospital so our doctor can close up Amber's cervix with a cerclage. It is done with general anesthetic, and Amber should be able to come home later that day. From there, it will be about a week of bed rest. After that, she should be good to go, but we will not try to over do anything. Still, hopefully the morning sickness will have waned enough that Amber could have a more normal pregnancy. The cerclage will be removed at around 36 weeks or around the beginning of March 2009. From there, it is wait and see when the baby comes!
