As you can imagine, ever since Hurricane Ike, lots of things have had to be re-scheduled. The last 2 weeks have been crazy, but are settling down some. Mainly, I've had to re-schedule our insurance adjuster coming a couple of times since our damage is not as bad as compared to others. I just hope he comes. For us, medical care has been crazy.
Amber's OB/G and clinic were closed for a week. Thankfully we were able to get in rather soon to see our OB/G. Our OB lives and works on Galveston, so she has had to deal with living in a new apartment while trying to get the house prepared for re-modeling. The UTMB hospital in Galveston will not be operational for quite some time. Christis St. Johns Hospital had significant roof damage (located across from NASA/JSC) and will not be fully functional for another 2 or 3 months. We did find out that we had our 1st trimester ultrasound rescheduled for September 24th which was the next day. The scanned picture is from that screening. The ultrasound with the blood work showed that our baby had a very low chance of Downs Syndrome so we are thankful not to have to worry about that possibility. We talked with our doctor about when we would be able to re-schedule Amber's cervical cerclage. Our doctor said we had some options she was exploring, and possibly have it done in a week or two at Clear Lake Regional since it was fully operational. The problem was that our doctor needed privileges to work there. She would check in to what would be best. If nothing else, she could call some friends in the Medical Center and have it done in Houston.
Monday ended up being somewhat crazy because we get a phone call from St. Johns asking Amber about her upcoming procedure on Wednesday. That was the first we had heard of it, but sure enough, we were to go in on Wednesday October 1st for Amber's cerclage. It turns out there is an OR at St. John's nearby sports injury facility and they were using that area to double for other out-patient procedures like for Amber. Tuesday we went to our doctor for our scheduled appointment and she reviewed everything with us. So, we were to be ready to go at 7AM Wednesday.
So, this morning we got up, and went to the clinic. They got Amber all prepped and about 830AM she had her cerclage done. After some recovery, Amber and I went home around noon. So, I have not been home very long, but everything went smoothly. Amber still has some cramping and spotting which should continue for a couple of days. The babies heartbeat is good and strong so no complications there. Amber is resting and will not be moving much for the next couple of days. So far, God has worked everything out for this to happen. I kind of think He knew this would be a good time to have this done and we are thankful. Please continue to pray that we get our house and fence put together with a healthy recovery for Amber.
