It is hard to believe that Emma is no 5 and a half months old and we are headed towards the fall season. August proved to be a busy month. Our driveway became a parking lot for our parents. Grammie and Popa Overpeck drove here to visit for a couple of days before flying out to Alaska for two weeks. They enjoyed their trip and got plenty of pictures of the whole experience. The pictures of Mt McKinley were impressive. Nana and Popa Kline took a quick trip to San Francisco. Both started back teaching school the next week and wanted to get in one last vacation trip beforehand. We managed to juggle the cars around and enjoyed our time with them.
My dad who has been battling Ramsey-Hunt Syndrome is improving. The shingles are completely healed, although he still has some issues. He still cannot hear out his right ear, and has been having some slight issues with the palsy. The good thing is that in the two weeks before and after their trip, Amber and I could notice improvement in that. We hope and pray he continues to get better.
Last weekend we visited Uncle Tommy, Aunt Jenn and cousin Allie. It was good to see them and enjoy a couple of days with them. While there, Emma learned or just began to sit up on her own. She has gotten better at it and does not fall over very much at all. It was fun to take some pictures of her just sitting up. She has also pushed through two bottom teeth. It seems that she may be working on a top tooth too. Overall, she has not been that fussy, but has a bad night every once in a while. The teething tablets work really well. Emma is also starting to eat baby food. She has already been eating a rice cereal to get in the practice, so we will see how well she likes pears, carrots, apples, sweet potatoes and green beans food. Hopefully she likes them enough to stick to eating them later in life. Overall, Emma continues to grow and we enjoy having her happy personality.
